FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS SEEK COMPANIES TO RECYCLE OLD MONEY The Federal Reserve Bank is looking for new uses for over 7,000 tons of money it shreds each year. Cemtech signed a one-year contract with the Richmond FRB to recycle 135 tons of worn out greenbacks into fuel pellets. CALIFORNIA WASTE-TO-ENERGY PLANT STALLED TeraMeth Industries, of Walnut Creek, California, has developed the technology to convert toxic methane gas, a landfill by-product, to methanol. Their proposed waste-fueled methanol plant at a Southern California landfill has taken longer than expected to receive approval from State and local agencies due to red tape and concerns over untested new technology. -San Francisco Chronicle, June 10, 1994, p B1.
