Chris Hammer is principal of Sustainable Design Resources. She's a green building consultant, building evaluator, researcher, publisher, and innovator.
Chris began her environmental career with the demonstration EarthWays Home in St. Louis in 1991. Her "firsts" include conceptualizing and launching HOK's Sustainable Design Program, creating and publishing the email newsletter GreenClips, and developing the Minnesota Sustainable Design Guide. As a result of her research for US Gypsum, Chris was instrumental in launching the US Gypsum ceiling tile recycling effort.
Chris's two passions are waste management and energy. Conserving resources is the way she thinks and the way she acts. Her connection to the environment is the result of growing up in rural northern Minnesota and spending a lot of time outdoors.
Chris is first and foremost a sociologist. Post-occupancy evaluations (POE's), market research, litter studies, and measurement and evaluation projects allow her to utilize her skills in research methodology.
